Testified in support of HB 64 in Criminal Justice committee. This bill adds express language that a judge can recall an arrest warrant to the Code of Criminal Procedure. Rep. Muscarello’s bill also adds a requirement to notify law enforcement of the recall. 24th Judicial District Court

I was asked to comment on the budget increase for the Department of Corrections in the Governor’s budget.

The 85% of sentence increase applies to everyone arrested and convicted after August 2024. Most of the current inmate population is still under old law but the effects of the new law are already ahowing up in the budget $$$.

Was contacted by Advocate reporter to comment on the indictment. Without seeing the evidence it appears that there are many obstacles to prosecuting these allegations.
