Birthdays hit differently when the person you are celebrating isn’t here anymore. They become a strange mix of deep gratitude for the person they were, and heavy grief for the new memories you won’t get to make together.⁣
⁣
Today is my mom’s 66th birthday. I’ve cried a lot today thinking about how much I miss her, and how many conversations have gone unspoken since she passed away so suddenly in 2023.⁣
I know she is close, but it doesn’t take away the longing to talk, laugh, and hug her one more time. I am so endlessly grateful I got 38 years of being her son.⁣
I miss you every day, Mom, but today especially. I hope you’re having a special celebration up there. I love you more than you’ll ever know. Happy birthday.

I still can’t believe it’s been 25 years. And I am still hearing more stories from 9/11 and hearing these voicemails from that day. ⁣
In the heaviest moments, all the daily noise and distraction vanish, and what truly matters rises straight to the surface. It is a sobering reminder of our shared humanity and how deeply we need each other.⁣
Today is about honoring the lives lost, the heroes who served, and the families who carry those memories. But it is also a quiet call to get our priorities straight, hold our loved ones a little closer, and never take a single day for granted.⁣

Please never forget, the generations that come after us need this reminder too. ⁣
