DrugFree Greenville is proud to be the administrator for the Dawn Brooks Memorial Scholarship Stop D.W.I. Grant in Memory of Dawn Brooks. The benefactor of this scholarship is the Watkins Perkins Law Group.
This honor is given annually in memory of a young mother who in 1998 was tragically killed on Highway 380 in Hunt County when the car that she was driving was struck head-on by a drunk driver who was also killed in the crash.
Dawn Brooks’ 9-year-old daughter survived the crash after being flown from the scene by helicopter to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.
This scholarship serves as a poignant reminder to us all that drinking and driving can truly end all dreams.
This year’s recipient has been an active member of many extra-curricular activities in school that include Senior Beta Club, Student Council, Varsity Cheer, Volleyball and Powerlifting. Along with ASL Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
This student pushed for the program Shattered Dreams in a small scale and helped with the planning of “Living Dead” at Boles. This school is very small and an unwealthy district so just planning this small part made an impact during the prom and graduation season at Boles thanks to her willingness. This all started from her sister being at GHS during the 2022 Shattered Dreams and was one of the “Living Dead”.
