The Associated Press reports that on May 19, 2026, President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing bank regulators and federal agencies to scrutinize whether individuals without lawful immigration status are opening bank accounts or obtaining loans and credit, as part of his Administration’s effort to limit access to financial services for undocumented immigrants. The order frames the initiative as a financial risk measure tied to potential loan default if customers are deported, but it does not require banks to collect citizenship or immigration status, making it less expansive than earlier reported proposals. It follows broader Administration efforts to restrict immigrant access to financial and tax-related benefits.

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order requiring banks to scrutinize their customers’ citizenship.

Why the YMCA Keeps Coming Back to Greensboro

When it comes to hosting national championships, Greensboro has quietly built a reputation as one of the most dependable and welcoming sports destinations in the country. The YMCA’s long-standing partnership with the city is a strong example of that.

Since 2012, the YMCA has chosen Greensboro as the home of its national swimming championships. A big part of that consistency comes down to the Greensboro Aquatic Center, which continues to deliver a high-quality experience thanks to the city’s ongoing investment in maintenance and updates.

But beyond the facility itself, it’s the people who make the difference.

From the Greensboro Sports Foundation to the Convention and Visitors Bureau to venue staff, Greensboro brings a true “can-do” approach to every event. For the YMCA, that translates into a genuine partnership, not just a place to host a meet.

That experience extends to the athletes and families who travel to compete. What was once met with a simple question, “What is there to do in Greensboro?” has been replaced by an appreciation for the city’s welcoming atmosphere and affordability. From hotel rates to dining options, Greensboro makes it easier for organizations like the YMCA to keep events accessible for participants.

Another key differentiator is volunteer support.

According to the YMCA, the level of volunteer engagement provided by the Greensboro Sports Foundation stands apart from any other city they work with. It’s a powerful advantage for event organizers and a defining part of Greensboro’s identity.

If the experience could be summed up in one word, the YMCA puts it simply: Welcoming.

US District Court Judge Reyes stayed the termination of Haiti TPS until litigation regarding the issue is complete and concluded her opinion by stating:

There is an old adage among lawyers. If you have the facts on your side, pound the facts. If you have the law on your side, pound the law. If you have neither, pound the table. Secretary Noem, the record to-date shows, does not have the facts on her side—or at least has ignored them. Does not have the law on her side—or at least has ignored it. Having neither and bringing the adage into the 21st century, she pounds X (f/k/a Twitter).

Kristi Noem has a First Amendment right to call immigrants killers, leeches, entitlement junkies, and any other inapt name she wants. Secretary Noem, however, is constrained by both our Constitution and the APA to apply faithfully the facts to the law in implementing the TPS program. The record to-date shows she has yet to do that.
