We’re proud to help our community start the school year strong! 🎒📚

We packed 100 backpacks filled with school supplies and donated 50 to the Charles County Children’s Aid Society and 50 to Floris Elementary School in Herndon, VA.

And we didn’t stop there! We also made a monetary donation to help provide backpacks for the Greenbelt Back to School Health Fair.

We’re grateful for every opportunity to invest in our children and help make sure they have the supplies they need to succeed. 💙

Together, we’re making a difference—one backpack at a time! 🎒✨

After a serious work-related knee injury left our client in significant pain and struggling with daily mobility, insurance disputes and repeated authorization delays threatened timely care and financial stability. Attorney Krista DeSmyter and team gathered strong medical support, coordinated closely with treating providers, and pressed the claim through the administrative process—including hearing preparation—to keep benefits and treatment moving forward. The case ultimately resolved with a $350,000.00 lump-sum settlement and an additional $165,955.00 Medicare Set-Aside to protect future medical expenses. This outcome provided both immediate financial relief and long-term medical security.

For Our Gen Z Followers... đź‘€
Ever feel like your lawyer is speaking a different language?
Here’s a translation of some common personal injury terms—in plain English.

⚖️ Lawyer Says:
“We’re determining liability.”
What It Means:
We’re figuring out who is legally responsible for what happened.

Lawyer Says:
“Do you have any evidence?”
What It Means:
📸 Photos, videos, witness information, medical records, and other documentation that helps support your claim.
Think: Bring the receipts.

Lawyer Says:
“We’re evaluating your damages.”
What It Means:
The ways the accident has affected your life, including medical expenses, lost income, and other legally recognized losses. đź“‹

đźš— Lawyer Says:
“This may be negligence.”
What It Means:
Someone failed to use reasonable care, and that mistake caused another person to be injured.

🤝 Lawyer Says:
“We’ve reached a settlement.”
What It Means:
Both sides agreed to resolve the case without going to trial.

🩺 Lawyer Says:
“Keep your medical records.”
What It Means:
Your medical records help document your injuries, treatment, and recovery.
The more complete the record, the clearer your story.

📞 Lawyer Says:
“The adjuster wants to speak with you.”
What It Means:
They’re gathering information about your claim as part of the insurance company’s process.

⏳ Lawyer Says:
“There’s a statute of limitations.”
What It Means:
There is a legal deadline to file your claim. Missing it can affect your ability to pursue your case.

❤️ Lawyer Says:
“We’re seeking pain and suffering damages.”
What It Means:
Some injuries aren’t measured by a medical bill alone. The law may also recognize the physical pain and emotional impact an injury has on your life.

💙 Legal terms don’t have to be confusing.
Our job is to help you understand your rights every step of the way.
Save this post for later and share it with someone who might need it.

After a serious workplace fall, our client was left struggling with ongoing physical and emotional trauma. The worker’s employer and their workers’ compensation insurer refused to authorize the necessary medical care for the worker’s injuries, including treatment for his concussion, back, and psychological condition. The insurance carrier emphasized a delay in initial treatment and attempted to minimize the extent of the client’s physical and psychological injuries. After the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission agreed with the Employer and Insurer’s position, and denied the injured worker’s right to additional medical care, Luke Needleman and his trial team appealed the Commission’s decision and took the case to trial.

At trial, the Luke Needleman presented key expert testimony from the treating providers and fought back against the insurer’s improper defense tactics.

After a two-day jury trial in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland, the jury returned a unanimous verdict in the client’s favor, and reversed the Commission’s decision in its entirety.   The jury’s verdict confirmed the injuries were work-related, rejected the claim that the client did not require additional medical treatment, and authorized ongoing medical and mental health treatment.  The trial victory ensures the client’s access to treatment, and ability to move forward with stability and dignity.
