Hello, friends - never forget who our current District Attorney is... Here is a case she fully brought to trial recklessly, dangerously, and needlessly within her first 7 months of office- the type of old school "justice" she campaigned on and promised to reform, she in fact legitimized and strengthened, and brought this victim to court seeking to punish a victim of police brutality and a young person of color, knowing the evidence didn't back her up:

My original statements on the matter:
Hello friends -
Please read about this very important case--and our victory--in the link below. My full statement to the press in this matter was this:
To the members of the press:
My client, Christopher Esperanza, was found not guilty today of all charges against him.
In this the time of promised reforms, this case stands out as a broken promise. The excessive force used by the police in this case was apparent in their own report. Punches to the face, being hit by batons, and tazing a 19yr. old young person of color in his own home is a wildly inappropriate response to an allegation of disorderly conduct.
What happened to my client on the night of July 7, 2017 happened to his whole family.
To avoid the travesty of my client having to go through a trial to prove his innocence, all the DA had to do was choose not to prosecute this case and send a clear message to rogue police who use excessive force that we (the DAs Office) will not prosecute these cases. I know that the majority of police in our community are trying to do the right thing. If this type of rouge behavior continues to go unchecked, it will erode the community’s trust in law enforcement.
I want to thank the members of our community who served on the jury for their thoughtful deliberation on this case.
