Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is urging recent high school graduates to educate themselves on how to spot common scams to avoid becoming a victim. The Attorney General is reissuing consumer alerts highlighting common tactics fraudsters use to target young adults.

“Graduating from high school is a monumental milestone, but it also marks a time of major transitions that bad actors want to exploit,” said Attorney General Nessel. “Young people are by no means immune to scams. Being aware of common tactics can go a long way in protecting your identity and your hard-earned money as you embark on your next chapter.”

The family of a Caledonia-area boy who was killed by his father is thanking legislators in Lansing for passing an act that removes some barriers to issuing Amber Alerts.

The Michigan Senate on Wednesday passed the bill dubbed the Rowan Act. The House passed it in September. The act cleared both chambers nearly unanimously, with just one legislator in the House voting no.

The act would give the Michigan State Police broader discretion to issue Amber Alerts when it believes a missing child is in danger. The legislation also requires the alerts to be posted on social media.

If you’re late paying off traffic tickets or court fines incurred in Grand Rapids, a program at the city’s district court may offer you a reprieve.

The 61st District Court in the city of Grand Rapids announced a monthlong amnesty program aimed at resolving warrants and settling old court financial obligations while waiving late fees and penalties.

The 2026 Amnesty Program gives all people with adjudicated misdemeanor cases, traffic tickets and civil infractions, including those with bench warrants for failure to pay, the opportunity to pay the original amount of the ticket or financial assessment. All late, bench warrant and show cause fees will be waived for those who qualify throughout the month of June. Bench warrants for failure to appear will also be cancelled for those who pay the full original amount requested by the court.

Just a reminder. now that school is out about the new youth employment laws in Michigan.

Work‑hour limits for minors ages 14 and 15 changed March 31, 2026. These limits align more closely with federal standards. During school sessions from Labor Day to May 31st minors in this age group may work between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., for no more than three hours per day and 18 hours per week.

During summer, from June 1st through Labor Day, work may extend until 9:00 p.m., with a maximum of 40 hours per week. Different and generally broader limits apply to 16‑ and 17‑year‑olds, though restrictions on hazardous work and late‑night hours remain in place.

If passed in the house, SB 934-939 would be the first major revision to the state’s mobile home laws in nearly 40 years.[2] As of May 21, the package is on its way to the House for consideration.

On May 19, 2026, Michigan’s Senate passed a bill package with bipartisan support and both resident and industry backing that seeks to overhaul Michigan’s manufactured housing regulations.[1] If passed…
