Yesterday, I celebrated something far bigger than a graduation (although it’s quite incredible that I have a high school graduate). I celebrated what can happen when parents choose to put their children first. Divorce changes a family, but it does not have to destroy one. As both a divorced parent and a family law attorney, I know these outcomes don’t happen by accident - they happen through intentional choices, positive communication and keeping the focus where it belongs: on the children. I am so proud of my graduate and grateful for the example we were able to set for her on this momentous occasion.
