There are a lot of days this job is hard and makes you wonder if it makes a difference. Then there are days like this. This woman went through more public ridicule and demonization than I've ever seen. There were yard signs, Facebook groups, and she could not leave her home without being harassed, cursed at, or threatened for months.
After 18 months of being publicly shunned, we finally got the chance to present the facts of what happened to a jury. After 7 days of trial, testimony from numerous medical experts, and being presented with all of the medical evidence, the jury returned the correct verdict that I never doubted for a minute over the last year and a half - that she is not guilty.
Prior to being life-flighted, she was brought to the ER in Williston, where doctors reported no signs of bruising or physical injuries proven by a CT scan.
