October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Domestic Violence cases have surged since the onset of COVID-19, with increased stresses on families and victims trapped at home with their abusers. According to this recent article, "With personal movement limited and people confined to their homes, advocates expressed concern about [an] in intimate partner violence (IPV). Stay-at-home orders, intended to protect the public and prevent widespread infection, left many IPV victims trapped with their abusers."
