Congrats to the Goldsboro Women’s Basketball team for winning the state Championship! Trophy 🏆

They did it!

The Goldsboro High School girls basketball team just won the NCHSAA state championship for the first time in more than 40 years — beating East Surry 54-46.

We sent Sports Editor Avi Smolka to Winston-Salem for the game and held off printing the March 15 edition of Wayne Week to give you special coverage of this historic moment.

Digital subscribers will still get their papers on Saturday, but home delivery will not happen until Sunday.

We will also make copies of the paper available for purchase Monday at our office at 219 North John Street, but due to what we expect to be high demand for this edition, consider this a friendly reminder that the only way to guarantee a copy of Wayne Week is to subscribe.
