The University of Michigan will pay $300,000 to settle a wrongful-termination lawsuit filed by a former employee. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff was fired after she refused to “fraudulently misrepresent” the role of another employee to federal immigration officials. The university fired the plaintiff on July 13 for "failing to meet expectations," states the lawsuit. The university will pay the plaintiff $219,000 in lost wages and damages and $81,000 in legal fees.

On December 17, 2018, actor Alfonso Ribeiro, well known for his role as Will Smith’s loveable preppy cousin, Carlton Banks, on the hit 1990s television show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, filed two separate lawsuits in California federal court against videogame makers Epic Games and Take-Two Interactive alleging that the companies illegally used Ribeiro’s signature dance move “The Carlton.”

Actress Eliza Dushku has been paid $9.5M to settle harassment claims against CBS. According to the lawsuit, Dushku was s*xually harassed by her co-star Michael Weatherly during production of the show "Bull." After complaining about the alleged harassment, Dushku was written off the show, stated her complaint. Through mediation, CBS and Dushku agreed to a $9.5 million settlement of the harassment lawsuit.

On December 4, 2018, class claims were filed in New York federal court against celebrity watering holes Rose Bar and Jade Bar. Female employees allege that the popular bars inside New York City’s exclusive Gramercy Park Hotel violated the Fair Labor Standards Act and New York Labor laws. In the complaint, named plaintiff in the case, Allison Ullo, claims that the clubs require female waitresses to distribute their tips to male employees working as bartenders and bar-backs.

A lawsuit has been filed alleging a former dean at West Los Angeles College repeatedly propositioned a student for s*x. The lawsuit was filed by the former student, who says the dean s*xually harassed her for years while she was employed in his office. According to the lawsuit, the former dean of Disabled Students Programs and Services often asked for s*xual favors in exchange for financial stability. The dean resigned after s*xual harassment allegations surfaced.
