Please join us in keeping Iowa State Trooper Carruthers in your thoughts and prayers following the active shooter incident on Aug. 18th in Stuart, Iowa. Trooper Carruthers was injured while responding to the incident, which tragically claimed the life of one woman. He is currently in stable condition.

We stand firmly behind our fellow law enforcement officer and recognize his unwavering bravery and commitment to protecting others, even in the face of unimaginable danger.

Trooper Carruthers, we’re wishing you strength, healing, and a speedy recovery. Stay strong, brother. We’re with you. 🇺🇸💙

PINK OUT FOR A PURPOSE!

It’s that time of year again! The Mills County Sheriff’s Office is proud to once again partner with Anytime Tees for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

This year, we’re putting a little pink into our patrols and more importantly, putting our support behind Iowa families fighting cancer.

All of the proceeds from these shirts will be donated directly to the Pink Tractor Foundation, an Iowa nonprofit dedicated to raising funds to support Iowa families battling any and all types of cancer. And this cause hits close to home. The American Cancer Society estimates that tens of thousands of Iowans will be diagnosed with cancer in 2026, with breast cancer being one of the leading causes.

Every shirt purchased helps turn awareness into action and gives back to families right here in Iowa. So, whether you wear yours proudly around town, at the grocery store, or even under your uniform on a chilly October morning wear it with purpose!

Click the link below to place your order! Orders are due Sunday, September 20th, 2026.
PLEASE NOTE: If you purchased a shirt last year, the DryBlend shirts have been switched to a different brand this year. Be sure to check out the new shirt option when placing your order!

Thank you for helping us support an incredible cause and the Iowa families who are facing cancer together.

Shop. Wear. Support. Make a difference.

Beginning today, the Iowa Department of Transportation has temporarily closed portions of the intersection of Highway 34 and Hilman Road in Mills County due to upcoming construction and for the safety of motorists. Both north and southbound median turn lanes across Highway 34 traffic as well as those attempting to turn northbound onto Hilman from the westbound Highway 34 are restricted. These portions of the intersection will remain closed until completion.

The Mills County Sheriff's Office understands that this will be an inconvenience for local travelers through the completion of the project at that location. However, the safety of all travelers in that area necessitates this temporary closure and will help the project proceed as efficiently as possible.

Effective August 1st, the Mills County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that we will be providing law enforcement coverage for the City of Tabor.

Our commitment to the citizens of Mills County remains unchanged. This additional responsibility will not impact the level of service provided to the residents of Mills County. We have taken the necessary steps to ensure that calls for service throughout the county will continue to receive the same timely, professional, and appropriate law enforcement response our community expects and deserves.

We look forward to serving the residents of Tabor while continuing to provide exceptional service to all of Mills County. Thank you to our deputies, staff, and community partners for their dedication and support as we continue working together to keep our communities safe.
