Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Anne Arundel County Police Department and Sgt. Trumbauer’s family, friends, and coworkers during this difficult time.
It is with a heavy heart we announce the loss of Anne Arundel County Police Sergeant Eric R. Trumbauer #1514. Sergeant Trumbauer died after suffering a medical emergency while off-duty last evening.
Sergeant Trumbauer began his law enforcement career as a member of the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s 60th Recruit Class in October of 2002.
Sergeant Trumbauer spent a decade in Patrol in our Northern and Southern Districts. During that time, he was recognized as the Northern District Community Relations Committee Officer of the Year, a Baltimore Sun Officer of the Year nominee, and as the Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce Officer of the Year.
Sergeant Trumbauer later spent five years assigned to the Special Operation Division Traffic Safety Section as a Fatal Crash Investigator before returning to Patrol. He spent his career involved in impaired driving enforcement and was recognized by the state of Maryland 14 times as one of the top DUI enforcers in the state.
Additionally, he was recognized three times as one of the top Drug Recognition Experts in the state. Sergeant Trumbauer was also awarded a Silver Star and two Departmental Commendation Awards.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kelly, and their daughter Brooke. We ask that you please keep the Trumbauer family in your hearts, thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
