Why Own or Operate an Airbnb? I will touch on pros and cons but first Iโll start with the Pros. First, the obvious pro is making lots of money, especially when you compare Airbnbs, short term rentals (STR), to long term rentals (LTR). For most areas, STRs can make ~2-5 times the net income of an LTR, ie if an LTR makes $200/month net then an STR could make $400-$1000/month net.
Second, is with STRs you typically donโt have to deal with tenants rights because the guests stay less than 30 days. However, if it is longer than 30 days then tenants rights can be enforced, but from my experience, the guests that stay 30-90 days are there for a specific reason such as temporary business, home construction, or travel nurses and donโt cause issues.
