❌ “My ID expired last week — it should still be fine”
✅ Unfortunately no — expired ID of any kind cannot be accepted, no matter how recently it expired. Please renew before your appointment!

❌ “A Social Security card counts as ID”
✅ False — it has no photo and is not acceptable for notarization.

❌ “My student or work ID is government-issued”
✅ False — only official government-issued photo ID qualifies.

❌ “I don’t need ID if the notary already knows me”
