Tough end to a 2-week trial. The plea offer was a laughable “50 years” so 15 seems much more grounded.

Investigators say Viveros was driving 107 miles per hour on his way to a robbery call without his lights or sirens on when he crashed into the car of Mason and Angela Stewart, killing them instantly. Michael Hawkins was in custody in the back seat of Viveros' car, not wearing handcuffs or a seatbelt. He was paralyzed in the crash and died months later.
