Investigators with the Gatesville Police Department continue to work diligently on the December 10th case involving the home break-in and assault on an elderly person. We continue to ask for the public’s help in identifying the person(s) responsible for this senseless crime. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Gatesville Police Department, Criminal Investigations Unit, at 254.865.2226. Tips may also be submitted anonymously to Centex Crime Stoppers, by phone or text, to 254.865.8477, or online at centexcrimestoppers.org. Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest or grand jury indictment of a felony offender in this case.
We would also like to announce a new program we have entitled “Care Call.” The Care Call Program is a service to senior citizens living alone, whereupon volunteers with the Gatesville Police Department make weekly phone calls to check their welfare, offer assistance, and provide a chance for simple conversation. It is designed for seniors living within the city limits of Gatesville with a working telephone, and who have the cognitive ability to participate in the program. Exceptions can be made for participants based on serious health issues, age, and or limited family contact.
As part of the Care Call Program, a prearranged time for participants to receive a regular phone call inquiring about their welfare is designated. If a concern is expressed, the volunteer (caller) will determine the nature of the concern and if some sort of response is necessary. Unanswered calls or busy signals are called back. If there is still no response, an officer is dispatched to the location for a welfare check.
If you or someone you know would like to receive regular phone calls as part of this program, please call us at 254.865.2226.
