The NC Guardian ad Litem Program in Gaston County represents children who have been placed in the custody of Gaston County DHHS due to abuse, neglect and/or dependency by the Court. Guardian ad Litem volunteers spend time with these children and investigate their needs and advocate for services that best address those needs. Volunteers do an independent investigation and make independent recommend

ations to the Court that promote the best interest of their children. Most importantly, GALs advocate for permanent, safe, stable and nurturing homes for every child within the shortest time possible.

Cathey Ross and her family are moving to the Wake County area, and we are going to miss her so much! Her sense of humor, knowledge, candor, and especially her great heart and kindness made her one heck of a great GAL, and her GAL children were always in the best of hands. Godspeed, Cathey. We love you big!

It's been a while since we recognized those GALs whose cases closed; however, seeing a case through to a successful completion is quite an accomplishment, and we sincerely thank those GALs who have "stuck with it" with your GAL children. Even those juveniles who aged out of the system desperately needed a constant face -- one whom they knew would be there through thick and thin -- and that was YOU, GAL advocates! You are awesome Rob White, Loretta Pilgrim, Christine Martin, Cathy Frye, Sarah Cerilli, Phyllis Grant, Debbie Horvath, Joan Randolph, Roland Michel, Barbara Leifer-Woods, Erin Capps, Mike Cloninger, Nancy Accipiter, Gordon Parker, Julie Wolfe, Cathey Ross, and Tom Hauer! THANK YOU!
