GAINESVILLE, Ga. (April 27, 2026) — What elevates a warm, sunny afternoon spent dining or shopping on the historic square in downtown Gainesville? How about live music?

The City of Gainesville, Georgia is bringing back the well-loved Blue Sky Concert Series every Wednesday in May.

"Order lunch to go from your favorite nearby restaurant or eat at a sidewalk café, shop at trendy, unique boutiques and experience life on the historic square in downtown Gainesville!" said Special Events Manager Karen Diaz, with the Gainesville Tourism Department. "Soulful sounds from talented musicians will fill every corner of the square for all to enjoy."

The following artists are scheduled from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesdays in May: May 6, Eduardo Cautiño; May 13, Rodney Appleby; May 20, Kiah and the Tygar; and May 27, Roger Moore.

"People naturally congregate around music because it fosters a sense of unity, connection and community," Diaz said. "On the days we host Blue Sky Concerts, the hope is to give our local restaurants a boost in lunchtime customers, as well as our retailers with some pre- and post-concert shopping. Enjoy the music from afar while supporting nearby businesses or get up close and personal by enjoying a mini two-hour concert."

Plan to bring your own lawn chairs or picnic blankets in case you can't snag a spot on a shaded park bench. In the event of rain, concerts will be moved inside a nearby business, which will be announced on the Downtown Gainesville page.

Find free and covered parking at any one of the following downtown parking decks, all located within walking distance to the historic square: Main Street Parking Deck, 301 Main St.; Gainesville North Parking Deck, 100 Brenau Ave.; and Hall County Parking Facility, 225 Green St.
