🏆 WHAT A SPRING SEASON FOR LOCAL ATHLETICS! 🏆

The 2025-26 spring sports season is officially in the books — and our local schools gave us plenty to cheer about! Here's a look back at how your community teams finished. ⚾🥍

🐯 FUQUAY-VARINA BENGALS
⚾ Baseball — Finished 18-8 (.692 win pct). A strong season on the diamond!
🥎 Softball — Finished 12-4. Double digits in wins — outstanding!
🥍 Boys Lacrosse — Finished 3-8. Young squad, bright future.

🌩️ WILLOW SPRING STORM
⚾ Baseball — Finished 11-17. Battled a tough schedule all spring.

🦅 HOLLY SPRINGS GOLDEN HAWKS
⚾ Baseball — Finished 26-7 (.788) — went to the 7A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME! Beat Cardinal Gibbons in regionals, ending a 15-year drought. Fell to Marvin Ridge in the title game but what a historic run! 🏆
🥎 Softball — Finished 6-10. Building for next year.
🥍 Boys Lacrosse — Finished 10-2. Phenomenal season!

🐾 APEX COUGARS
⚾ Baseball — Made the NCHSAA 8A playoffs with a hard-nosed first round win!

⚔️ HARNETT CENTRAL TROJANS
⚾ Baseball — Competed in a tough schedule all spring.

The NCHSAA spring championships wrapped May 27-30. Time to recharge before fall ball! Get out there and celebrate these kids for a great season — they put in the work! 🙌

Last night, the Fuquay-Varina town board made a big decision to approve a $10 million plan for new ballfields at Hilltop Needmore Town Park, despite some resident concerns. With around 11,000 kids participating in local youth sports programs every year, it's clear that our community values these opportunities for our children. However, as we look towards 2027, we must also consider the impact on our community's green spaces and recreational areas.

Change can be challenging, especially when it impacts beloved spaces. If you have thoughts or concerns about this development, now's the time to engage in the conversation. Let your voice be heard! How do you feel about the balance between expanding sports facilities and preserving our parks?
