Hello friends! This month's lesson:

Did you know there is a difference between a paralegal and a legal document assistant?

California law states a person can advertise and call themselves a paralegal if they work under the direct supervision of an attorney. Otherwise you must call yourself a legal document assistant.

Because I work full-time for an attorney, and because the work I perform outside of my 8:00 to 5:00 is under my boss's direct supervision, I am a Paralegal.

Although this may not sound impressive, it means that I have the ability to discuss people's circumstances with my employer and obtain her advice on a given situation. Additionally, she reviews my work if necessary or requested. Finally, I have a stellar working relationship in the legal community, including the Courts!

So, if you're looking for legal assistance in your family law matter, or you know someone who is, please contact me first for a qoute. I am also a Notary and can travel 🙂 I hope to hear from you.
