👉🏽 BREAKING: As of Tuesday June 1, President Biden’s Department of Homeland Security has officially ended the previous administration’s so-called Migration Protection Protocols (MPP), often referred to as the "Remain in Mexico" program. ❌⠀

The policy had forced tens of thousands of Central American asylum-seekers to wait in Mexico while their court dates were pending. This move comes after Biden had called for a pause and review of the program earlier this year. Despite the end to MPP, however, Title 42 remains in place – a health order that allows border authorities to quickly turn migrants caught at the border back to Mexico during the pandemic. The current admin cites COVID-19 concerns for keeping the controversial measure.
