Nearly 54,000 acres of pristine land between Rocksprings and Uvalde has officially been acquired by Texas Parks and Wildlife to become Silver Lake State Park — the second-largest state park in Texas.
Here's what you need to know:
The land sits about 150 miles west of San Antonio and features a rare 30-acre spring-fed lake, 7.5 miles of the West Nueces River, limestone canyons, ancient caves, Native American pictographs, and native wildlife including white-tailed deer, turkey, javelina, and dove.
87.5% of the land was donated by the Moody Foundation. The rest was purchased for $11.85M using the voter-approved Centennial Parks Conservation Fund.
The park will open in phases — starting with guided tours and eventually expanding to hiking, camping, and paddling access. No official opening date yet.
This is more than a park. It's a permanent commitment to protecting what makes this region extraordinary.
We cover more than listings — we cover the life.
