Waco Apartment Complex Settles Wrongful Death Case
Bryan F. Russ III ("Trey") was recently hired in 2024 to file a wrongful death case against an apartment complex in McLennan County, Texas. Trey’s clients’ son was visiting a tenant of the apartment complex when he was violently murdered by an unknown assailant. The lawsuit filed by Trey alleged that the apartment complex had been a hotbed for dangerous crimes over the past several years and that the complex had failed to take necessary and reasonable steps to attempt to prevent and curtail the number of violent crimes and that the same led to the death of Trey’s clients' son.

Several months after the case was filed the attorneys for the complex called Trey requesting to settle the case. The case settled pursuant to a confidential settlement agreement.
An assistant manager sent Villages apartment owners an email four months before the shooting, "essentially begging" for on-property security and video cameras, the suit states.
