MEET MARK DOUGALL
R. Mark Dougall, DLO's founder, focuses his practice in the areas of personal and commercial transactional work, including real estate, wills and estates, probate, and business formation and planning. In 2005, Mark founded Overland Title Company, LLC, to handle and insure real estate closings. Mark obtained his Tennessee law license in 1993 and is admitted to practice law before all Tennessee Courts (1993) and in the United States Federal Court system (1994). Mark's professional experience includes a law school clerkship for the copyright and legal departments of Sony Music Publishing in Nashville where he administered the publishing catalogs of various songwriters including John Lennon and Mariah Carey. Prior to founding DLO, Mark practiced at a boutique entertainment law firm in Nashville where he represented celebrities and business entities in negotiating domestic and international entertainment agreements. Mark also tried complex intellectual property cases in Tennessee state courts and in Federal courts throughout the United States. Mark's background as a trial lawyer gives him knowledge and experience rare among today's transactional and real estate attorneys. Mark earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) in Atlanta in June 1990, where he was a Dean's list graduate and a midfielder for the men's LaCrosse team. Mark then attended the Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana on an Eskinazi Fellowship and earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in May 1993. While in law school, Mark served as Executive Editor of the Federal Communications Law Journal, and was a co-founder of the Indiana University Sports & Entertainment Law Society. Mark has two children and lives in Franklin.
