If you have a work permit, do not go to work in Maine at the moment. Border Patrol is detaining everyone working there (legally!), that doesn't have a green card or Citizenship. I just spoke to the supervisor there after my client was arrested for no reason as he lawfully working construction with his work permit. This is a father of 2 US born babies, who has been here for 10 years and has no criminal record. Good work, Maine. If its not kids they are arresting, now the construction workers they can't hire without immigrant labor. The absurdity and lawlessness gets more unreal daily of what this administration is doing.

Si solo tiene permiso de trabajo, y no la residencia, no vaya a trabajar en Maine. Ahi paran a todos que no tengan residencia, no importa si estan pasando por corte y esperando sus documentos y tiene el permiso de trabajo vigente. Absurdo todo lo que esta haciendo esa administracion para torturar a la gente trabajadora. Y quien va a trabajar ahi en construccion? Pues nadie. Asi se quedaran.

After 10 years of working together, my “favorite client” (I have many!) passed her citizenship test today! When she calls and I pick up the phone she says - hola mi Chula! Which has, after so many years, become an inside joke. Like so many clients, after so many years, this strong woman is family.

Her interview was at 12:45 today. I got there at 12:35. She says - I had my interview and passed. I laugh. She says, no, its true! I came early, they asked if I want to proceed without my attorney, I said sure (!!!! 😳😳!!!!), and the officer was very nice and I passed. After I recovered, and yelled at her for proceedings without me (!!!), Im thrilled for her. Congratulations, mi Chula!!! 😍😍 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

In my line of work I always feel especially grateful for my circumstances. Like everyone, I have my struggles. But I have so much that I am daily grateful for. Thank you, Universe. I am grateful for my son. My parents and that my whole family is close by. My friends - who are family to me. And, not least of all for all my clients (many of whom are like family by now too!) who trust me with their trauma, tears of pain and joy, their struggles and with their hopes and dreams. I don't take that lightly. I love what I do and am SO SO grateful for that. Wishing everyone a relaxing Thanksgiving filled with joy, laughter, grace with those family members that may drive ya a lil nuts, and food coma.

CSB Update
The Clients’ Security Board (CSB) and the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office are undertaking a joint outreach effort to contact former clients of George C. Maroun, Jr., a Massachusetts immigration lawyer who was recently suspended from practice effective September 8, 2022. The two agencies are seeking to alert Maroun’s former clients that they may be eligible to receive reimbursement from the CSB for monies paid to Maroun for their immigration cases.

This was one of my first kid greencards (SIJS), back in 2012 (can’t believe its 10 years!!!). Shes not a kid anymore but a motivated, brilliant, hardworking, young adult. Gives me all the feels 😍🥰
