Before you start scrolling through listings and scheduling showings, there are 3 things I'd do first:

1️⃣ Know your budget.
Figure out what monthly payment you're actually comfortable with—not just the maximum amount a lender says you can borrow.

2️⃣ Get pre-approved.
A pre-approval gives you a much better idea of what you can afford and puts you in a stronger position when you find the right home.

3️⃣ Know your must-haves.
How many bedrooms do you need? What about a garage, backyard, home office or specific location? Knowing your priorities helps keep the search focused.

The goal isn't to find the most expensive house you can qualify for.

It's to find the right house for your life and your budget.
