Another ! Primary parents, this one is for you!

Tomorrow is your deadline to give written notice of your *Interrupting Weekend* and your *Cancellation Weekend*.

Interrupting Weekend = The weekend in the middle of your co-parent's extended summer where you have a weekend with the kiddo

Cancellation Weekend = The weekend of regular 1/3/5 possession that you can veto to create your long summer period. You cannot veto Father's Day and you cannot veto a period designated as extended summer.

To my co-parents with 50/50 summers: this most likely does not apply to you. Carry on.

Hey Co-Parents! Just a about some upcoming holidays. Mother's Day, May 8, 2022 (May 6-8) is a FIRST weekend.

If your custody order follows the Texas Standard/Expanded Standard Possession Order, then Mother's Day weekend generally overrides the standard first weekend possession period. Always check your order's exact language.

If you have questions, give us a call.

For those looking further ahead: Father's Day falls on the third weekend in June.

If you are confused, you are not alone. Using a calendar like ours can help.

(For the real pro-tip: getting your co-parent a card, flowers, or some other gift will do wonders to improve the co-parenting relationship)

Y'all stay safe out there. The roads are going to get bad. The GSH office is closed, but we will be working remotely.

Please use good sense if tomorrow and/or Friday is an exchange day for you. Weekends can always be made up. Just document it and leave a paper trail.

Most courts are "closed" for new business, previously scheduled hearings have either been rescheduled or converted to Zoom. Most attorneys will be working from home. If there is a problem with an exchange, the court most likely cannot help. Make a note, contact your lawyer, and follow your lawyer's advice.

Stay warm. Stay safe.

Reminder! This weekend is the FIRST weekend of November. Last weekend was the FIFTH weekend of October.

If you have an ESPO/SPO, fifth weekends are always followed by first weekends--this means that parents has two back-to-back weekends.

Hey CoParents! Halloween falls on a 5th weekend again this year, this time on a Sunday.

Some custody orders have possession time ending at 6 p.m. on Sundays, which is prime "trick or treating" time. I would open lines of communication now if you don't have your treats in a row yet!
