šŸ’ Thinking About a Prenup in Texas? Here’s What You Should Know

A prenuptial agreement isn’t about planning for divorce—it’s about planning for peace of mind. In Texas, a prenup can:

āœ… Protect property and assets you owned before marriage
āœ… Clarify how debts will be handled
āœ… Safeguard family businesses or inheritances
āœ… Prevent costly disputes in the future

Texas law recognizes prenuptial agreements, but they must be fair, voluntary, and in writing to be enforceable.

šŸ“Œ The best time to discuss a prenup is well before your wedding day.

If you’re considering marriage, we can help you draft a clear, enforceable agreement tailored to your needs.

šŸ“¢ Top 5 Mistakes to Avoid During a Custody Battle

When it comes to child custody cases, emotions often run high—and unfortunately, those emotions can lead to costly mistakes. At The Harris Law Firm, we’ve seen how the wrong decisions during this critical time can negatively impact parents and children alike. Here are 5 common mistakes to avoid if you find yourself in a custody dispute:

1ļøāƒ£ Speaking negatively about the other parent in front of your child
Children should never feel caught in the middle. Courts take parental behavior seriously, and negative talk can harm both your case and your child’s well-being.

2ļøāƒ£ Ignoring court orders or visitation schedules
Failure to follow existing orders can make it appear that you’re unwilling to cooperate. Judges want to see that you can respect agreements and prioritize your child’s stability.

3ļøāƒ£ Posting on social media without thinking
What you post can—and often will—be used against you in court. Even harmless pictures or comments can be taken out of context. Always think twice before posting during a custody case.

4ļøāƒ£ Letting anger guide your decisions
Custody battles are stressful, but making choices based on anger or revenge rather than your child’s best interests can damage your credibility in court.

5ļøāƒ£ Not seeking professional legal guidance
Every custody case is unique, and relying on advice from friends or online forums can put your case at risk. An experienced family law attorney can help you navigate the process effectively.

āš–ļø At the end of the day, custody cases are about what’s best for your child. Avoiding these mistakes can make a huge difference in both the outcome of your case and your child’s emotional well-being.

šŸ‘‰ If you or someone you know is facing a custody dispute, our team at The Harris Law Firm is here to help protect your rights and guide you every step of the way. Contact us today for a consultation.
