📚✈️ WE DIDN’T GO TO NEW YORK JUST FOR THE EXPERIENCE — WE WENT TO LEARN!

AA’s Financial Services LLC recently attended the 2026 IRS Nationwide Tax Forum in New York, and when I say we went to LEARN, I mean we attended the classes, took notes, asked questions, and paid attention to what is changing in the tax industry.

Why?

Because tax preparation is NOT just putting numbers into software and pressing submit.

Tax laws change. IRS procedures change. Reporting requirements change. Technology changes. And as tax professionals, it is our responsibility to keep learning.

Some of the topics and updates we went over included:

📌 New federal tax-law changes and how they affect upcoming returns
📌 Working Families Tax Cuts provisions and implementation
📌 New and changing deductions, credits and limitations
📌 Due diligence requirements for tax professionals
📌 IRS examinations and audit procedures
📌 Tax preparer compliance and enforcement
📌 Circular 230 and professional responsibilities
📌 IRS use of technology, data analytics and AI in tax administration and compliance
📌 Social media, tax misinformation and professional conduct
📌 Identity theft and tax-related fraud prevention
📌 Cybersecurity and protecting taxpayer information
📌 Digital assets and cryptocurrency reporting
📌 Form 1099-DA and increased third-party digital-asset reporting
📌 Business income, expenses and recordkeeping
📌 Schedule C and self-employed taxpayer compliance
📌 Hobby-loss vs. business rules and establishing a profit motive
📌 Earned Income Tax Credit and other refundable-credit compliance
📌 Child-related tax provisions
📌 Retirement and tax considerations affecting seniors
📌 New savings opportunities and accounts created under recent tax legislation
📌 IRS notices, collections and taxpayer compliance
📌 Preparer penalties and consequences for failing to follow due-diligence requirements
📌 Documentation — because if you claim it, you need to be able to SUPPORT it
📌 Protecting our EFINs, PTINs, businesses AND clients from tax-related scams and fraud
📌 Changes that will affect the 2026 filing season and future tax years

And that is only SOME of what we covered.

One thing that was made very clear throughout the forum:

The tax industry is changing, and tax professionals have to change with it.

Technology is advancing. Information reporting is expanding. The IRS has more tools available to identify inconsistencies, and compliance and proper documentation continue to matter.

That is why we invest our TIME, MONEY and ENERGY into continuing education.

We don’t want to learn about a major tax change from a Facebook post two weeks before filing season. 😂

We want the information from the people responsible for administering and enforcing the tax laws, and then we continue researching the actual law and IRS guidance so we understand how it applies to our clients.

Our goal isn’t to get you the biggest number somebody can type into a return.

Our goal is to make sure you receive every credit, deduction and tax benefit you LEGALLY qualify for while keeping your return accurate and compliant. 💯

Over the next several weeks, I’m going to start breaking down some of what we learned into individual educational posts so our clients AND fellow tax professionals can better understand what’s coming.

Because when you choose a tax professional, don’t just ask:

“How much can you get me back?”

Ask:

“What are you doing to stay educated?” 👏🏽

At AA’s Financial Services LLC, education doesn’t stop when tax season ends.

We prepare. We train. We learn. We stay ready.

Because our clients deserve professionals who take their responsibility seriously. 🖤💛

🚨 FILED AN EXTENSION? YOU DON’T HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL OCTOBER 15TH! 🚨

If you filed a tax extension, remember: October 15 is the filing deadline for most individual taxpayers with a valid extension — NOT the date you have to wait until to file.

If you have all your tax documents ready, you can file NOW. 💻📑

And if you didn’t file an extension and still haven’t filed your tax return, don’t assume it’s too late. We can still help you get caught up and get your return filed.

⚠️ Also remember: an extension to FILE is not an extension to PAY. If taxes were owed, the original payment deadline still applied, and penalties and interest may continue to accrue when applicable.

Whether you:

✔️ Filed an extension and are ready to finish
✔️ Never filed an extension
✔️ Still haven’t filed your tax return
✔️ Have prior-year returns that need attention
✔️ Need help figuring out what documents you’re missing

AA’s Financial Services LLC is here to help.

📅 We are currently accepting clients BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.

Don’t wait until October 15th and join the last-minute rush if you’re ready today.

Let’s get those taxes handled. 💰📚

🚨 If you file taxes with an ITIN, you may notice refunds are smaller this year.

Before blaming your tax preparer, here’s what changed.

Tax laws and IRS enforcement have tightened on certain refundable credits.

That means many ITIN filers may not qualify for credits they received in past years.

Yes… some people received them before.

But that doesn’t mean they were supposed to.

And now the IRS is catching it.

📬 Letters are being sent
💰 Refunds are being taken back
💰 Penalties and interest are added

Unfortunately some tax offices still promise huge refunds just to get clients in the door.

But months later the taxpayer is the one stuck paying it back.

A professional tax preparer’s job is not to promise the biggest refund.

Our job is to file correctly and protect you from IRS problems later.

🚨 Taxpayers — especially those filing with ITINs — please understand this.

The IRS reviews many tax returns months after they are filed.

So when someone promises you a huge refund that seems too good to be true…

Ask yourself this question:

Will this return still hold up if the IRS reviews it later?

Because if it doesn’t…

📬 IRS letters will come
💰 Refunds will be taken back
💰 Penalties and interest will be added

And unfortunately many taxpayers only learn this after it’s too late.

Taxes should never be about chasing the biggest refund.

They should be about filing correctly and protecting your future.
