The legal community lost a brilliant mind and loving soul when Frank Colosi left this world for a better place on August 7th. His intelligence and empathy for his clients and every person he met made him one of the most unforgettable people you will ever meet.
Frank Colosi and Terry Casey, of Brender, Casey & Colosi, were also instrumental in the landmark employment discrimination case that we argued before the U.S. Supreme Court in Watson v. Fort Worth Bank & Trust, 487 U.S. 977 (1988). Nobody thought we would win. Even the EEOC filed an Amicus against us (then headed by Clarence Thomas): “In another major decision involving the rights of employees, the Court made it easier for women and members of minority groups to prove that they were victims of illegal employment discrimination. The decision, considered the most important civil rights ruling of this term. was a bitter defeat for the Reagan Administration, which argued that a ruling in favor of the plaintiff would force thousands of employers to adopt quota systems in order to avoid litigation.” The New York Times (June 30, 1988). We will celebrate Frank’s life and many accomplishments at a later date.
