Today, we honor Juneteenth — Freedom Day — a powerful reminder of resilience, liberation, and the ongoing pursuit of justice.

On June 19, 1865, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. That delayed justice remains a call to action for us all.

As the Black Women Lawyers Association of Tarrant County, we celebrate the legacy of those who fought for freedom and commit ourselves to protecting civil rights, uplifting our communities, and advocating for equality under the law.

Freedom delayed is not freedom denied — we continue the work.
