Just left a marriage-based AOS interview and the questions have shifted. Officers are now asking directly why you didn’t apply through Consular Processing — and if anything is preventing you from doing so.

Adjustment of Status has always been discretionary. What changed is the level of scrutiny. Eligibility alone is no longer enough. You need to show family ties, hardship, good moral character, and a credible explanation of your immigration history.

If you have an AOS case pending, now is the time to strengthen your evidence — not wing it.

Questions? We’re here.

Immigration courts are now scheduling hearings with 100 or more people at a time, pulling forward cases set for 2027, 2028, even 2029.

According to this piece in NPR, the goal is simple, to issue more deportation orders faster.

The danger is that people are not being notified when their dates change. Miss your hearing, even by accident, and a judge can order your removal in your absence.

If you have a pending court case, check your EOIR account today. Do not assume your date is the same.

The Justice Department is moving up the court hearings for hundreds of immigrants and scheduling them for mass hearings. If they don't show up, they could be ordered deported.

𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬, 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟮, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲. USCIS announced that people here on temporary visas who want to apply for a green card must now leave the US and apply through their home country's consulate — except in "extraordinary circumstances."

What this means in practice, for many people, leaving triggers a 3 or 10-year bar to reentry. This policy effectively closes a door that has been a standard, legal pathway for decades.

If you or someone you know has a pending green card application or is considering one, do not make any travel decisions before speaking with an immigration attorney.

Our removal defense paralegal Diana Lopez has been fielding calls from people who got a notice asking for more documents — and when we look into it, a notario or legal assistant filed for them.

We understand why people go that route. But if that case gets denied, you can be put into removal proceedings. This is not a small risk, especially right now.

Hardest part of this job is leaving court knowing the outcome could have been different.

Me and my paralegal Diana are just leaving the courthouse  and today was a tough one. Clients who had options, who had family members that could have filed for them, who just waited too long. The I-130 process is taking almost two years right now and judges are not giving more time to wait for them. That window closes fast.

If someone you know is in proceedings and hasn’t talked to an attorney yet, that’s the call to make. Call us or click the link in bio.

Does your family have a plan if something happens to you tomorrow?

Most people don’t think about it until they have to — and that’s the worst time to figure it out. In this video I’m walking through exactly when these documents matter and why having them ready changes everything for the people you love.

If you missed us today, we are happy to send you a digital copy. Just call or text the office at (469) 200-0158 and we will get one out to you.

Every mother in this photo fought for something bigger than herself.

They navigated systems designed to be confusing. They waited years. They kept going, for their kids, for their families, for the life they came here to build.

Today they're home. Legally. Permanently.

And now the next chapter begins — making sure everything they worked for is protected. The home. The savings. The future they built for their children. That part matters just as much as getting here.

This Mother's Day I'm thinking about every mother still in the middle of the fight, and every mother who made it and hasn't yet thought about what happens next. Both conversations are ones I'm here for.

To the women in this photo — it was an honor to walk this road with you. 🌸

If you have questions about immigration or protecting what you've built for your family, please reach out.

Every week someone walks into my office holding a letter from USCIS. The application was filed by a notario. A paralegal. A family friend who meant well. And now we are trying to fix something that should never have happened. A wrong filing does not just get rejected and sent back. It can bar you from future applications. It can put you in removal proceedings. It can permanently close a door that was completely open before anyone touched your case. If you have a letter from USCIS, look at the date on it. Response deadlines can be as short as 30 days. That clock is already running. Call us. Link in bio.

He was the victim of a violent crime. Undocumented. Ready to say nothing and disappear because he thought cooperating with police meant deportation.

The detective stopped him. Explained the U-Visa. And gave him my name.

He called. He is now on a path to legal status.

He never would have found me without that detective.

This is why I work with law enforcement. If you are undocumented and something happened to you, call me before you assume you have no options.
