Public Statement from Close & Hitchcock, LLC

Close & Hitchcock, LLC has represented Essix M. Robinson, Jr. since the initial filing in the Allen County Juvenile Court. From day one, our firm has been fully committed to protecting Essix’s rights, his future, and his well-being.

While we are limited in what we can release publicly due to the ongoing nature of the proceedings, we want to assure the community that we are working diligently and relentlessly on his defense. It is imperative for Essix that our defensive strategies remain confidential.
During the waiver proceedings, our firm fought vigorously to keep this case in the juvenile system. We presented witnesses and evidence we felt demonstrated that Essix would benefit from the rehabilitative resources available in juvenile court and that transferring him to adult court would cause profound and irreparable harm. Despite those efforts, the case was waived, but this is just the beginning of the process.

We also acknowledge the broader concerns expressed by members of the community regarding whether Essix and his siblings received the support they needed before this case arose. We ask that at this time such speculation cease for the benefit of Essix and that the community do their best to stay united on what is best for him looking forward, not backwards. For all children in our community, it is important to recognize their reliance on the systems around them to ensure their safety, stability, and well-being. When those supports fall short, the consequences can be devastating and long-lasting.

We recognize the gravity of what is at stake—not just legally, but for a young person’s life and prospects. Close & Hitchcock, LLC remains steadfast in providing Essix with the strongest defense possible, and we will continue to advocate fiercely on his behalf as this case moves forward. Additionally, there has been speculation regarding where Essix is currently held. Essix is not being housed with adults, instead he is currently held at the Allen County Juvenile Center.
Out of respect for the court process and Essix’s privacy, we will not be releasing further details at this time.
