"Yamphu Kirat Society" is only one cultural organization of Yamphu people which was established in 2060 B.S. with the main aim of preserving, protecting and conserving Yamphu culture, language, and religion as these have become nearly extinct because of the special protection or reservation provided in all areas to one caste (Brahmin), one religion (Hindu), one language (Khas -Nepali), one cultu
re (Hindu). Basically, this organization advocates against any forms of discrimination based on ethnicity and advocates for identity based rights of the Yamphu community and others ethnic groups. It is at the forefront of the Identity movement of various non-recognized Kirat ethnic groups. Its mission is “to acquire social equality and justice for Indigenous Kirat ethnic groups by preserving their distinct social, political, cultural and linguistic identities and by promoting their representation in every aspect of national life”. Its organizational structure provides that it has a secretariat of the seven members who are responsible for its day-to-day operation. It has District Level executive committee and and VDC Level in five districts- Sankhuwa sava, Dhankuta, Morang, Sunsari, and Ilam.
