Assignor and assignee sound similar, but they play two different roles in an assignment.
The **assignor** is the original buyer transferring their rights under the contract. The **assignee** is the new buyer receiving those rights.
It’s a small distinction that matters when documents are being prepared and everyone needs to be clear on who is stepping into the transaction.
When an assignment is involved, clear paperwork and early communication with the title team can make the process much smoother.
