Coronavirus and Unemployment Benefits in Florida.
The new Care Bill creates a new program, called Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, that extends benefits to gig workers, contractors and others who wouldn't otherwise qualify for unemployment compensation but cannot work due to the coronavirus emergency. You will get a maximum of a $600 per week, plus half the average unemployment benefit in Florida, which is $275.
The rule that people had to register online and contact at least five possible employers each week has been waived. The state also hired another 100 staffers to help at the benefits call center.
