SCAM ALERT — South Florida

If you get a voicemail from "Stacy Barber" at "National Asset Management" saying a "civil complaint" has been filed against you, your Social Security number, or "someone associated with this phone number," and demanding a callback to 833-795-5753 — it is a scam.

Why we know:

Lawsuits are served by a process server, not by voicemail.

Real debt collectors must send a written validation notice (FDCPA § 1692g; Fla. Stat. Ch. 559).

The inbound caller ID is spoofed — it changes every time — but the 833 callback, the name, and the script are always the same.

When called back on a known-good line, the operation says "it was an error, please disregard" to shed prepared callers. The calls keep coming.

What to do:
✅ Do not call 833-795-5753.
✅ Do not give your SSN, DOB, bank info, or any payment.
✅ Save the voicemail and screenshot the caller ID.
✅ Report to the FTC (reportfraud.ftc.gov), CFPB, FCC, and BBB Scam Tracker.
✅ Pull a free 3-bureau credit report at annualcreditreport.com.
