Conrad & Scherer was founded in 1974 by Managing Partner William Scherer and began as a small, local law firm comprised of trial attorneys. While the firm has grown significantly, we maintain the core values of virtue and integrity that the firm was founded upon. Today, Conrad & Scherer stands as a preeminent litigation law firm with a national and international reach. Our team of attorneys operat

es from offices in Fort Lauderdale, FL, New York, NY, Brevard, NC, and Quito, Ecuador, providing clients a range of services that includes complex commercial litigation, bank fraud, Ponzi scheme litigation, construction litigation, government relations, land use and land use litigation, probate and more. We’ve earned our success by delivering tenacious legal counsel matched with exceptional business acumen. Conrad & Scherer’s clients benefit from a multifaceted approach to their legal issues, with seasoned trial attorneys and other firm professionals all working in concert. As a testament to our expertise, Conrad & Scherer has consistently been recognized as a Top Law Firm by the South Florida Legal Guide and is AV Rated® by Martindale-Hubbell®. We’ve participated in a number of high-profile efforts, including the historic recount in the 2000 presidential election, and we’ve won what is said to be Florida’s highest percentage of recovery for victims of a Ponzi scheme. As well-known as some of these matters may be, clients and cases need not be prominent to benefit from our proficiency; our reputation as specialists in challenging and complex cases of all types is well-earned. We are proud of our commitment to excellent legal representation in any forum, and we are proud of the sophisticated matters we handle for the impressive clients we serve across the globe.

Conrad & Scherer’s story has always been about more than verdicts. It is about the people, principles, and partnerships that shape a firm’s legacy.

Thank you to the Las Olas Boulevard & Isles Magazine for spotlighting our founder, Bill Scherer Scherer, and his wife, Anne Scherer, in “Verdict and Voice,” a feature that captures the balance behind their decades of work in law, business, philanthropy, the arts, and the Fort Lauderdale community.

From Bill’s career in high-stakes litigation to Anne’s leadership across business, the arts, education, and local civic life, their story reflects the values that continue to guide our firm today: preparation, service, resilience, and a deep commitment to opening doors for the next generation.

We are proud to see their legacy recognized in such a meaningful way.

Last week, the Conrad & Scherer team had the privilege of celebrating William R. Scherer, Jr. as he received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Florida Legal Awards presented by Law.com.

For nearly 55 years, Bill’s career has been defined by landmark litigation, disciplined trial preparation, and a steady commitment to clients facing consequential legal challenges. From the 2000 presidential recount, to major recoveries for victims of the Scott Rothstein Ponzi scheme, to the recent more than $1.25 billion judgment against Wells Fargo on behalf of the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Minors’ Trust, his work has left a lasting impact.

This recognition was especially meaningful because so many of our attorneys and team members were there to celebrate him. Bill’s legacy is reflected not only in the results he has achieved, but in the firm he built, the people he has mentored, and the standard of excellence he continues to lead.

Congratulations, Bill, on this well-deserved honor.

Today, members of our paralegal, attorney, and executive teams joined Hollywood Hills Elementary for a schoolwide Super Reader celebration through our Book Buddies initiative.

As a law firm, we know how powerful reading can be. Strong literacy skills open doors, build confidence, and give students the foundation to think critically, advocate for themselves, and imagine bigger futures.

Thank you to Lori Canning for helping make this event possible, to Hollywood Mayor Josh Levy for joining us, and to our community partners HandsOn South Florida, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, the Hollywood Women’s Club, and the Children’s Services Council of Broward County for helping bring the day to life.

Every student received a superhero cape and a book to take home, with fourth- and fifth-graders receiving personally signed copies of Brad Meltzer’s I Am Superman. We are grateful to Brad Meltzer for continuing to support this initiative.

We’re gearing up for our next Super Reader event this fall at another Broward County Public School!

Congratulations to Pathways to Careers in Law Fellow Breyannah Deceus on being named the 2026 President’s High School Scholarship Recipient at the Haitian Lawyers Association’s 28th Annual Scholarship Ball.

The future of the legal profession starts with opportunity.

For our 5th Pathways to Careers in Law Conrad & Scherer Day, Fort Lauderdale High School students began the morning at our firm with breakfast and a panel featuring attorneys William R. Scherer Jr., Janine McGuire, Veronica Hazzard, George Dahdal, and CFO Matthew Mantro, offering real insight into the many paths within the legal profession.

The day continued at the federal courthouse, where students had the opportunity to hear directly from Judge Raag Singhal, Judge Detra Shaw Wilder, Judge Rodney Smith, and Judge Panayotta Augustin Birch.

We are proud to continue building this program and thankful to everyone who makes it possible.

Proud to support Broward Health as a Gold Sponsor of the 13th Annual Broward Health Ball. It was a memorable evening bringing together South Florida’s corporate, community, and philanthropic leaders at the Seminole Hard Rock for a meaningful cause.

From the Wicked-inspired theme to the entertainment, dining, and auctions, the night was a powerful reflection of Broward Health’s impact on our community. We are honored to support its mission and its investment in training the next generation of physicians in South Florida.

Florida Trend’s April 2026 issue spotlighted a result that continues to stand as one of the most significant jury verdicts in Florida.

In “A Matter of Trust,” Florida Trend highlighted the Seminole Tribe of Florida minors’ trust's verdict against Wells Fargo Bank, a case in which Conrad & Scherer represented the trust and helped secure a $826 million jury verdict. The court later entered an amended judgment exceeding $1.25 billion with prejudgment interest.

We are honored to see this matter recognized as one of the court decisions with meaningful consequences for Florida business. Cases like this reflect the responsibility that comes with handling complex, high-stakes litigation and the importance of delivering results that make a lasting impact.

What a night for the legal community. Conrad & Scherer was honored to sponsor the Holland Scholarship Gala hosted by the F. Malcolm Cunningham Sr. Bar Association, led by our Senior Associate Attorney and FMCSBA President, Veronica Hazzard.

The evening delivered on its mission. FMCSBA awarded seven scholarships to 3L law students to support their transition from law school to the legal profession, and recognized community leaders whose work continues to strengthen and uplift our communities.

Even more impactful, ticket and sponsorship proceeds will help launch an inaugural bar prep bootcamp for scholarship recipients, providing resources at a pivotal moment in their careers. Congratulations to the scholarship recipients and honorees, and thank you to everyone who made the night such a success.
