Broward County Women Lawyers' Association BCWLA is a diverse group of lawyers and judges who reside, work, and socialize in Broward County. Membership in the BCWLA includes membership in FAWL.

The Broward County Women Lawyers' Association is the Broward County chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (FAWL), the State of Florida's women's bar organization. The unifying factor for the BCWLA is the recognition that the successful practice of law reaches far beyond the courtroom. While BCWLA members vary in terms of experience, areas of practice, gender, age, and ethnicity, we share the common vision that a successful legal community thrives on the commitment of its lawyers and judges to the legal and civic community. Throughout the year, BCWLA hosts monthly luncheons aimed at helping lawyers to achieve their personal and professional goals. BCWLA members have the opportunity to socialize, enjoy lunch at the Tower Club, and earn CLE credits while talented speakers share their knowledge, skills, and experiences. Membership in the BCWLA is based on the calendar year July 1 through June 30. It’s been a busy week for BCWLA visiting some of our local law schools to celebrate and welcome the newest attorneys to the Florida Bar! Last night we celebrated Nova Law and tonight we got to do the same for St. Thomas Law! Congratulations to everyone - may you always be as excited about this amazing career as you are today. Remember the oaths you all took, the family and friends who supported you, and as Dean Tarlika Nunez-Navarro reminded us tonight - remember your “why”. BCWLA is proud of you all and can’t wait to see all the good you do in this profession. 👩‍⚖️⚖️🖤

It’s that time of year, again! Do you know someone (im)patiently waiting on Bar Exam results? (Is that someone you??) or do you simply want to come out and meet and celebrate the newest attorneys in Broward? Whatever your reason, join BCWLA, BCBA YLS, and BCHBA as we welcome the newest class of attorneys to the Bar! The last several years have been such a huge success and we can’t wait to formally welcome our new colleagues in style.

Vice President Erica Showell and Immediate Past President Jillian E. Tate attended the National Black Prosecutor’s Association’s Installation Dinner last night to celebrate the organization’s accomplishments and support the newly installed Executive Board! The night was filled with strength, purpose, and reminders that being the first in the room that looks like you isn’t the goal - it’s to not be the last. We couldn’t be prouder to support such an amazing organization, and congratulations to President (and BCWLA member) Jessica Etienne! ✨✨ We can’t believe a week has already gone by since our Annual Installation & Scholarship Award Presentation! A huge thank you to all of our friends, family, sponsors, and community supporters for joining us for a night of recognition, networking, and empowerment. We were honored to have Florida Supreme Court Justice (Ret.) Peggy Quince deliver the Keynote Address, along with The Honorable Jackie Powell’s incredible rendition of our National Anthem and Jr. President-Elect Jace Aughey’s moving Invocation. Thank you to The Honorable Brenda Forman for once again leading us all in the Pledge of Allegiance, and of course The Honorable Melinda Brown for swearing in the new Board. We are truly grateful for each of you. More pictures to come!! ✨✨
