A lot of people don’t realize that Bass Pro Shops sits right in the middle of one of Middle Georgia’s strangest long-running local controversies.
For years, there’s been a boundary dispute between Macon-Bibb County and Monroe County over where the county line is actually drawn.
For a long time, it was mostly background noise — the kind of old local government issue most people never think about.
But then Bass Pro Shops came to town and built near the disputed area.
Suddenly, this old boundary fight had real tax dollars attached to it.
That’s when things got a lot more interesting.
In this video, we’re digging into the story behind the county line dispute, why Bass Pro Shops brought it back into the spotlight, and why this “boring” local issue actually matters.
If you like local stories like this, like the video and follow along for more Middle Georgia history, real estate, and community content.

One thing a lot of people don’t realize about Middle Georgia is just how close some of these famous filming locations are to each other.
Most people know about the Whistle Stop Cafe in Juliette from Fried Green Tomatoes — but what many don’t know is that just a few hundred yards away, right across the water, you’ll find another spot used in Baby Driver.
That’s part of what makes this area so cool. Around Forsyth, Juliette, and Middle Georgia, there are little pieces of film history tucked into places you may drive past all the time.
If you love local stories like this, follow along — we’re always sharing more of the people, places, and history that make Middle Georgia special.

Let’s help welcome this sweet family to Monroe County! 🏡❤️

After attending college in the area and spending a few years working in Atlanta, they decided it was time to come back and put down roots as they grow their family. We’re so excited for them as they begin this new chapter in a wonderful home in a great community.

It was a pleasure helping them find the perfect place to call home!

A special thank you to the wonderful sellers for making this such a smooth transaction, Renasant Bank and Leigh Hartley for financing assistance, and Vaughn & Sundeen for getting us closed.

Congratulations and welcome home! 🎉🏡

Buying a home is exciting — but a few simple mistakes can make the process way more stressful than it needs to be.
Here are three we see all the time:
1. Waiting too long to talk to a lender.
If you wait until you fall in love with a house to get pre-approved, you may already be behind. In a competitive market, the buyers who are prepared first usually have the advantage.
2. Only focusing on the monthly payment.
Your mortgage matters, but so do taxes, insurance, maintenance, repairs, utilities, and all the little costs that come with owning a home. A smart budget looks at the full picture.
3. Holding out for the “perfect” house.
The truth is, most homes are going to give you about 80–90% of what you want. There will almost always be a few trade-offs. If you wait for perfect, you may miss something really great.
The goal isn’t to rush into the wrong house — it’s to be prepared, realistic, and ready when the right opportunity comes along.
Thinking about buying in Middle Georgia? We’d love to help you make a smart move.
