Started the morning with the Fox Valley CPAs breakfast buffet with guest speaker congressman Peter Roskam. Sat with a great group of accounts who had some great questions!

Had a Probate matter in Will Co this morning. Love the Judge out there. Here's a brief conversation from a case before mine:

After some lengthy conversation at the bench...

Judge: ma'am I think it would behoove you to obtain counsel.

Resp1: I read the statute and it isn't complicated.

Judge: Well you're asking to do things for which you haven't properly put before the Court.

Resp1: But these things are important...and this has been going on for a long time.

Judge: If they are so important to you, then why during all this time, have you not gotten an attorney?



Resp1: I have talked to a number of attorneys and they're either too expensive or won't help me.



I wonder why?

The best part was the attorney for the estate said nothing and got everything he asked for.

I later learned some of the crazy, which I expected.

Moral...get a competent attorney, and when you can't, then re evaluate you position.

Judge at the annual ISBA high school mock trial competition. Ways great to see such young kids doing such a great job!
