Our beautiful Minnesota winter snow has made enough to stick around. No one wants to be involved in an accident, but sometimes they are unavoidable. Unfortunately, law enforcement will issue citations even when it is just that...an accident.
Some things to remember:
1) Always, always drive carefully and appropriately for the conditions. When the weather is not great, driving even the speed limit can be too fast.
2) If you are in an accident, make sure not to talk about what you could have done. Things like, "maybe I should have driven slower" or "I guess I could have been more careful." Hindsight is always 20-20.
3) If you receive a citation from an accident, these can be raised to a criminal level offense as a misdemeanor. A misdemeanor or petty misdemeanor conviction can have many consequences. Make sure you are represented by someone experienced in these cases.
