This week, NHTSA acknowledged our request to investigate semitrailers for a potential recall because they lack side underride guards. We are hopeful they will grant it. Thank you to IST Board Member, Eric Hein, whose son Riley was killed in an underride crash in 2015, for leading the efforts. As Eric said, “this is one step on the journey to end death by underride!”

However, when it’s all said and done, in the end, what really matters and what keeps us going are the relationships we make in the struggle to do what is right - a victory that often no one else sees. For that reason, we’re sad to report that a great friend and client is no longer with us. If you know Mike, you know he had a pure heart. He was a kind and good man in a world that is too often dark and cruel. He was hardworking and always happy, no matter what. We are thankful that we had the opportunity to enter his life.
