FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
JOHN 10

Galatians 5:22-24 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things, there is no law.
Galatians 5:17 17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit,
Galatians 5:19-21 19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: s*xual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, or**es, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live with these behaviors will not inherit the kingdom of God.
24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.

There is a quiet battle that takes place in every believing heart.
On one side is the voice of self—our fears, desires, pride, and impatience.
On the other side is the gentle voice of God’s Spirit—calling us toward love, peace, and holiness. God works through struggle. The fact that we hear the gentle voice of God means we have desire to please Him.
Often, we stand at a crossroads. We choose whether to follow our own worldly impulses or to listen for God’s leading. God’s way requires patience.
Yet, when we choose God’s way, something beautiful begins to grow.
Not all at once.
Not overnight.
But steadily, like fruit ripening on a healthy tree.
Love deepens.
Joy becomes stronger than circumstances.
Peace settles our restless hearts.
Patience overpowers frustration.
Kindness softens our behavior.
Faithfulness strengthens our commitments.
Gentleness shapes our responses.
Self-control guards our choices.
These are not achievements.
They are gifts—formed in us as we walk with God.
Every surrender makes room for grace.
Every obedient step shows love for Jesus.
Every prayer opens the door to transformation.
Walking with the Spirit is not about perfection.
It is about direction.
It is our choice, again and again, to turn our hearts toward God.
Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for Your Spirit living within me.
Grow in me, Your love, your peace, and Your wisdom.
Help me walk in step with You today.
Shape my thoughts, my words, and my choices.
Keep on the straight and narrow path.
Amen.

Forgiving: This happens when others have done something that is hurting. I am hurt in some way—physically, mentally, spiritually, or ego. First, I look at it this way. God is in control. God's intention is for me to mold into the likeness of his son. Romans 8:29. So, this happened because something in me or some aspect of my attitude or character is exposed that needs to be changed. I was defrauded of a large sum of money. I was promised that my money would multiply manyfold. I fell for the promises. Upon analysis it was my ego; I wanted to build the church building fast and maybe impress God that, like Solomon I am building a house for Him. Once I realized that it is my ego which should be thwarted, I was able to start the process of forgiveness to forgive them and myself too. The promise from God is in Revelation 21:5. He is going to make everything new. So, whatever I lose, He will make it new. If I lose eyes, I will have new eyes which I will have for eternity.
Not forgiving keeps us in bo***ge. They, who offended us, are free; they probably don’t even give a second thought about whom they have caused hurt. But we are in bo***ge thinking about the hurt. So that is another reason to forgive and get ourselves free. Let God take care of them. "Vengeance is mine; I will repay," says the Lord, from Romans 12:19 and Deuteronomy 32:35. No one escapes.
In short, forgiveness starts with introspection. What is holding us back from "forgiving"? Is it a desire to hurt them the same way, "eye for eye," and "tooth for tooth"? Let God take care of it. Loss! God promised to make it new. God sees everything; He takes care. 1 Peter 5:7 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Psalm 55:22 Cast your cares on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: See the new is here!”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17
IF ANYONE IS IN CHRIST: This means our identity is no longer defined by our past—our sinful nature, failures, guilt, wounds, or even our achievements—but by Christ’s finished work.
THE NEW CREATION HAS COME: We are totally new. We are reconciled and made right with God. We are being shaped into what we already are in Christ. The Christian life, then, is not striving to become someone else, but learning to live out the reality of who God has already declared us to be.
THE OLD IS GONE: It says we have a total break from the past life of sin, guilt, and insecurity. They no longer rule.
THE NEW IS HERE And “the new is here” is present tense. We have a new standing before God, new desires being formed, and a new direction for life empowered by the Spirit. The old is gone, forgotten, replaced by the new creation.
IN SUMMARY
In Christ, your past is not your prison, your present is not your limit, and your future is resurrected life.

Lord Christ,
You came not with the glory we wished,
but with the glory we need.
Shake what must be shaken in me—
worldly desires, misplaced faith, false idols—
so that Your unshakable presence will surround me.
Fill the unfinished places of my life
with Your greater glory.
In You, I find peace.
Amen.

2 Timothy 1:9—“He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace.”
When we are hurting, feeling lost and insecure, let us get hold of this verse. God has a purpose for us. He has saved us not because we did something; He saved us because of His grace, i.e., unmerited favor, love, and mercy that are freely given. And He calls us to a holy life, a set-apart life for His purpose.
Let us pray!
Father, we thank You for saving us by Your grace and calling us into a holy life for Your purpose.
As we proclaim your gospel, let Your compassion flow through us.
Strengthen our hands, soften our hearts, and guide our steps.
Use our effort to bring comfort, dignity, and hope to every person we reach.
Remind us that we love because You first loved us.
Let Your purpose be fulfilled in our work,
and let Your grace be seen in our actions.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. — Galatians 5:1 (NIV)
Freedom Is Your Birthright in Christ
Freedom is not a distant dream or a reward for good behavior. It is the starting point of the Christian life. Paul reminds us that Christ didn’t set us free halfway, conditionally, or temporarily. He set us free completely—free from guilt, free from shame, and free from the chains of our past.
But freedom must be guarded.
Paul says, “Stand firm.” Why? Because the enemy, Satan, loves to whisper old lies:
• “You’re not enough.”
• “You have to prove yourself.”
• “God is disappointed in you.”
• “You’ll never change.”
These lies try to pull us back into a “yoke of slavery”—a mindset where we forget who we are and whose we are.
Christ’s freedom is not fragile. However, our ability to hold on to that freedom can be fragile. That’s why Paul urges us to plant our feet deep, lift our heads, and refuse to return to anything Christ has already broken off our lives.
Freedom is not a feeling—it’s a fact.
Even on days when you don’t feel free, you are free because Christ Himself declared it.
Walk in the TRUTH today.
🙏 Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for setting me free.
Help me to stand firm in the freedom You purchased for me.
Silence every lie that tries to pull me back into fear, shame, or insecurity.
Teach me to walk confidently in the liberty of Your grace.
Let my life reflect the freedom You died to provide to me.
Amen.

[NIV] John 4:13-15 13 Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." 15 The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water so that I won't get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water."
Jesus while traveling to Galilee. He traveled through Samaria, which Jews do not consider Kosher. But Jesus’ mission was not just for Jews. So he did not avoid Samaria. He rested at Jacob’s well. And He asked for water from a woman. In doing so he broke many barriers. He offered a gift of living water to the woman.
Like the woman at the well, we may not fully understand the potency of the gift. We seek for our happiness/satisfaction from the same wells—money, power, s*x or the same water to quench our thirst. Even though we may drink those waters again and again we still remain thirsty. Jesus invites us to ask for something better. He leads us toward deeper faith. As in those days, today, He invites us to “Come, drink.” In Him, our thirst is met, our hearts are restored, and eternal life begins even now.
This water is Christ’s forgiveness given to us, a gift of renewing us from the inside out. It is not earned or bought. It is received. When Jesus promises this water that becomes a living spring within us. A spring welling up emphasizes internal regeneration, not external ritual. Faith in Christ results in a new source of life implanted within the believer, echoing Ezekiel 36:26–27 where God promises a new heart and a new spirit. Eternal life, therefore, is not only future but already begun in the present through communion with Christ.
