Thank you Westminster Macaroni Kid for recognizing us as a small business in Carroll County!

I opened the Proy Law Firm in 2009, to specifically help families plan their estates and small business owners with their business needs. By offering flexible office hours, I can accommodate everyone when they need questions answered.

Also, as a dad of 3 young kids, I understand the importance and peace of mind that comes with estate planning and taking care of your family.

Estate Planning for New Parents

Estate planning is necessary across the age spectrum. Last Will and Testaments do much more than distribute assets.

New parents especially need to consider at the minimum a will. The only way to appoint a guardian for a child, outside of a lengthy and costly guardianship proceeding, is through a will. Otherwise, any “interested” party may petition the court for guardianship of the child(ren).

A question asked often by clients is, “what happens if I don’t have a will?”

Beneficiary designations are an important piece of estate planning. By placing beneficiary designations on eligible accounts and assets, you can bypass the probate process, saving time, legal fees and court costs. Maryland is one of a few states that now allows an individual to place a beneficiary designation on a vehicle title.

Detailed instructions are located at:

As of October 1, 2017, Maryland will allow beneficiary designations on vehicle titles. Revise your estate plan accordingly
