Today is National Fall Prevention Day. Please take a few and go through your home or office and look for trip hazards. These can include loose or flipped up rugs and carpets, unmarked single steps, loose handrails, burned out lightbulbs, etc. Help make sure that no one is injured on your property due to an unsafe condition.

Farmers Insurance pulls out of Florida. Too expensive to do business the in spite of their intense lobbying efforts to blame everything on "fraudulent lawsuits". It is not fraudulent claims that is causing the problem, in fact premiums are on the rise and profits are increasing. The increases are based in part on the fact that the Florida legislature gave insurance companies a $3 billion handout but did not require anything related to doing proper underwriting and claims handling.

Democrats blamed Republicans for pushing a “$3 billion handout” to select insurers instead of demanding accountability measures for the industry.

In finalizing all the information necessary to do taxes, I was proud to realize that our "giving" program gave over $25,000 last year to charities designed to improve our communities and especially enrich the lives of children throughout the Pacific Nothwest.
