Last week at the Cumberland County Bar Association Luncheon, our Fayetteville office was honored to receive a “thank you” plate from Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast NC in recognition of our volunteer work earlier this spring.
In March, we had the opportunity to participate in the Legal Feeding Frenzy and spend the afternoon packing 330 boxes of food — each filled with 10 gallon-sized baggies of cereal, milk, SpaghettiOs, pork and beans, and applesauce. These boxes were distributed to students across Cumberland, Hoke, and Harnett Counties who rely on free and reduced lunch programs and often face food insecurity over the weekend.
That’s 3,300 kids who had something to eat because of this effort — and we were proud to play even a small part in making that happen.
Pictured with me are County Commissioner Glen Adams and Carlene Morales of Second Harvest, who kindly presented us with this recognition.
We’re thankful for the opportunity to support such a meaningful mission — and we look forward to continuing this work in the months ahead.
