Hamilton Burgess Young & Pollard, pllc Serving the Legal Needs of West Virginia for Over 90 Years Your Slingshot

It's a David and Goliath situation. We can stop them. You need a slingshot.

When you're in debt, the creditors are Goliath with all the power, and you feel there's nothing you can do to stop them. It's the same with the insurance companies in a personal injury suit, or your employer in a discrimination or harassment case. You need a lawyer who can fight on your behalf in the legal system. Our Fayetteville attorneys have more than 90 combined years of experience helping pe

ople just like you in the legal system. Hamilton, Burgess, Young & Pollard, P.L.L.C. has a proud tradition in West Virginia. Experience | Client-Centered Focus | Effective Representation

We are a different kind of law firm that emphasizes:

• Experience: We have a lot of trial experience, especially in car wrecks, coal mining accidents and other personal injury cases. At a time when most attorneys do not have trial experience, this is a great benefit to our clients.
• Client-centered focus: Rather than simply help our clients with their coal truck and timber truck wreck cases and then never see them again, we much prefer building long-term relationships with our clients. We want to be your all-purpose legal solution for all of the different legal needs that come up in you and your family's life, like starting a business or closing on your home loan.
• Effective representation: We have a reputation for getting excellent results for our clients. When people come into our office devastated and ready to file bankruptcy, we literally help turn their lives around. Some people come in broke, feeling like dead beats, and leave feeling like substantial citizens again. This is why we do what we do. Practice areas:
- Bankruptcy
- Business & Commercial
- Car Accident
- Consumer Protection
- Debtor-Creditor
- Elder Law

Dear Friends,

After 68 years, the law firm of Hamilton, Burgess, Young & Pollard, PLLC is closing its practice. Founded in 1954 by the late Pat R. Hamilton, the firm has provided a base for the practice of law by seventeen attorneys; and given quality employment for hundreds of legal assistants, office staff, and clerical help.

The decision was announced by remaining firm members Kevin Burgess and Steve Broadwater. Kevin and Steve intend to continue practicing law, but as individuals rather than as a firm.

Mr. Burgess and Mr. Broadwater emphasized that, unlike many business dissolutions, there is no animosity or bitterness, and the two attorneys remain close friends. They have been working together to assure that this change will not adversely affect any of their clients; and they have promised to continue helping each other and Mr. Adkins in future endeavors.

All current clients of the firm will receive correspondence on how their representation will go forward; and as always, clients are welcome to contact the attorney on their case with any questions.

Please follow the link to email your legislators - these bills are aimed at granting immunity to corporations who willfully injure, maim, or kill their employees. The idea that we would be granting immunity for corporations that cut corners for profit is crazy! Sometimes it seems as if the upper big branch mine disaster wasn't that long ago, and these bills would grant wholesale immunity for that disaster.

Corporations want immunity when they knowingly violate written safety laws and workers are killed or injured. Tell WV Lawmakers NO! at https://bit.ly/3GRZj4a

Surprise medical medical bill from out of network doctor? Say no more - Congress has banned many types of surprise out-of-network medical bills for things like air ambulances and emergency care. Call us if you have questions about your bills; bankruptcy isn't the only option.

Effective today, federal law bans many types of out-of-network medical bills and puts the onus on doctors and health insurance companies to resolve their payment disputes. Why it matters: Consumers can breathe a sigh of relief because, in many scenarios, they should no longer face unexpected charges....

Happy Constitution Day! Today we celebrate jury trials guaranteed by the 7th amendment. Juries represent the right of the common people to level the playing field and bring bad actors to justice, no matter how wealthy or powerful.

Today is Constitution Day. Thomas Jefferson said, “I consider trial by jury as the only anchor ever yet imagined by man, by which government can be held to the principles of its constitution.” Celebrate the 234th anniversary of our Constitution by learning more about your important right to trial by jury. https://bit.ly/3iHCkgZ
